Who is this project for?
This project is for MSC Software. The company produces several types of engineering software including Apex which engineers use as a simulation software to understand the forces the could affect the structural integrity of the Computer-Aided Design (CAD) model.
What is Apex?
Apex is a Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tool used to optimize the mesh of a CAD model and perform simulation on the CAD model.
Problem
MSC Apex has several methods for defeaturing a model the newest tool is designed for removing non-standard shapes and is referred to as the Custom Defeature Tool. The Custom Defeature Tool was never tested for usability.
Project Goal
The purpose of this project was to investigate the usability of the Custom Defeature Tool and develop a solution to improve the user experience.
